What's my coverage at The Garage Massage?

Using the information found on your health insurance card, check our Insurance Benefit Inquiry page to see whether your plan is accepted at The Garage, and fill out our inquiry form to get a benefit estimate. Health insurance will typically only cover one hour on any given date of service, as such we will only bill up to one hour and any longer sessions will be subject to our Time-of-Service rate of $100/hr and will not be billed.

Do I need a referral/prescription for massage therapy?

That depends on your plan. Any plans marked with an asterisk (*) on our Insurance Benefit page under “Accepted” will require a referral - even if your benefit booklet indicates it doesn’t, we’ll need it as a business requirement.

What's the difference between In and Out-of-Network?

An In-Network provider has signed a contract or agreement with the health insurance company they’re networked with to provide services to those members at a specific payment rate and not back-bill the member. In exchange, the health insurance company will often list the provider’s information on their website and help drive business from their members to the provider. An Out-of-Network provider has not signed a contract or agreement with the health insurance company. Some plans don’t offer Out-of-Network coverage of any kind, and others offer Out-of-Network coverage at different rates.

Is it better to see an In-Network provider?

Sometimes, but not always. The cost breakdown of In-Network services will always follow your insurance-provided benefit booklet and the contract they’ve signed, and Out-of-Network services are specific to the provider and any discounts and adjustments they make. The cost can be pretty comparable depending on the provider. It can be difficult to find a networked provider who is accepting new clients.
